Basically, the App store would allow developers to upload their applications, but most importantly enable them monetise on their apps via mobile payment solutions.
Using Mpesa and Mypaga, the Encipher App store wants to be the first in the world to monetize via a mobile payment infrastructure.
According to Saheed Adepoju, co-founder of Encipher,
“With the surging interests in Mpesa, we believe this would be a credible alternative to the traditional method of debit/credit cards payments. We are currently in talks with some of the mobile payment operators in the country. We envisage plugging this App store to Mpesa and allow a seamless integration for African developers to share their local content apps with the growing android community.”
Encipher also plans to raise an army of Android developers by training to help kickstart the App store before next year.
