Samsung Will Invest $7 Billion On Mobile Chip Plant in China

The world’s largest maker of computer-memory chips, Samsung Electronics will spend $7 billion to build a semiconductor factory in China, according to a report by BusinessWeek. This news comes as demand increases for mobile devices including Apple’s iPhone and iPad in China’s fast growing chip market and the rest of the world. The company is expected to invest $2.3 billion initially in the Xi’an plant, Suwon, which will start producing semiconductors known as NAND flash next year, according to Samsung South Korea.
