Rocket Internet’s much anticipated e-commerce site, Kasuwa.com, dubbed ‘Amazon for Nigeria’ has launched late on Monday.
This news comes about a week after it was expected to be launched to the public, but owing to issues with logistics, the launch was delayed, as we later learned.
As predicted, the site appears to be a knock-off of its Asian counterpart, Lazada and features a host of brands including Apple, Dell, LG and Samsung and also electronic products from the resolutionary iPad 3 to Samsung’s latest smart camera MV-800.
Apparently, Kasuwa offers a N1500 launch gift when you sign up to use the service, and also a Kasuwa gift card that lets the recipient choose their perfect present.
It also appears that the e-commerce site has got its distribution sorted out with DHL, and offers free delivery with its launch.
Now that Rocket Internet is finally in the Nigerian e-commerce space, only time will tell if it would be around for a long while or bite the dust like other online shopping sites such as MIH Internet’s Kalahari.
