Samsung Shipped 52 Million Smartphones in Q2 2012

According to recent data from Juniper Research released today, Samsung shipped 52.1 million smartphones worldwide, doubling Apple’s 26 million tally during the second quarter of this year. CNET reports that Samsung’s shipments also easily outpaced RIM’s BlackBerry which could only muster 7.4 million shipments and Nokia, which shipped 10.2 million smartphones worldwide during the same period. The worldwide smartphone market is growing quite rapidly as a total of 132.9 million smartphones were shipped, up from 105.2 million in the same period last year, according to the research firm.
