Following its participation at last year’s Mobile Entertainment Africa conference, IROKO Partners has officially confirmed its support for Africa’s leading mobile entertainment-focused event organised by All Amber.
The world’s largest distributor of Nollywood movies and arguably Nigeria’s hottest entertainment company will be the Gold Sponsor at this year’s Mobile Entertainment Africa conference taking place on August 29th and 30th at the 5 star One & Only Hotel in Cape Town, South Africa.
Michael Ugwu, CEO of iROKING, (IROKO Partners’ music platform) believes the event would “offer an awesome opportunity to celebrate Africa’s exciting and burgeoning tech scene”. After attending last year’s event, Ugwu said they were “extremely impressed by the quality of the presentations and the pedigree of the attendees”.
Ugwu has overseen the iROKING content acquisition effort signing 50 of Nigeria’s biggest artists to landmark digital distribution deals, as well as deployment of the iROKING web and mobile applications to date delivering 100,000-plus audio streams daily.
In less than a year, Ugwu (also known as @mrIROKING on Twitter) grew the business to more than 70 managed YouTube music artist channels delivering 15 million video views on average a month.
At MEA 2012, Ugwu will deliver a keynote presentation on the topic: “Are we about to herald the next stage of evolution for African music?” He will discuss how iROKING is embracing mobile technology to deliver music on the move to a potential global audience.
IROKO Partners owns and operates, arguably, the three most exciting platforms of the Nigerian Internet entertainment space, namely, iROKOtv.com, iROKtv and iROKING.com.
During 2011, IROKO Partners generated approximately 152 million views across its NollywoodLove, YorubaLove and short-clip channels. It is expected that this could grow to over 300 million views across its YouTube channels and movies channel in 2012.
