Chinese Internet Search Giant, Baidu Launches Mobile Browser
Baidu, China’s leading search giant, has launched a new mobile web browser available for Android and Windows Phone platforms in a bid to keep up with the Chinese mobile explosion. The launch puts Baidu in direct competition with Yahoo, Google, Mozilla, and other companies with mobile web browsers. Meanwhile, Baidu is reportedly partnering with Apple to get deeper iOS integration for Baidu web search, since Apple doesn’t allow iOS mobile browsers other than mobile Safari. VentureBeat’s Jolie O’Dell believes that given Baidu’s strong foothold in China, its adoption could trounce its competitors’ numbers regionally.
