Hands-On With DStv Walka 7 Mobile TV Device [VIDEO]
Multichoice Nigeria unveiled its latest 7-inch screen mobile TV called Walka 7 on Thursday evening at a star-studded launch event at the Civic Centre in Lagos, Nigeria.
The device is a second version of the company’s innovative 3.5-inch screen Walka device launched in January 2012 and features a 7-inch screen, two 1.5 watt speakers, a rechargeable battery that lasts up to six hours of viewing, 4 aspect ratio settings and is powered by the DVB-H technology, the global standard for mobile TV.
We got a hands-on with the device and here’s a video demo below.
The difference between the Walka 7 device and Walka is the size, as the former has a 7-inch screen for better viewing, while the latter has a 3.5-inch screen. The Walka 7 also offers 6 hours of battery life, while the Walka offers 3 hours. A new feature added to the Walka 7 is the 4 aspect ratio settings and its two 1.5 Watt speakers.
The device also comes with a 3-month free DStv subscription with 16 channels including entertainment, news and sports when you purchase it and requires you to pay a token of about N700 for a monthly recharge if you don’t have a current DStv subscription. But if you do already, you can simply link your Walka 7 device to your DStv subscription and you won’t have to pay monthly.
The Walka 7 currently retails for N18,900, while the Walka still retails for N17,500 and is available in Multichoice centres and can be used in cities with DVB-H coverage such as Lagos, Port-Harcourt and Abuja.
