Ghana’s Technology University To Launch 10-inch Tablet Device
The Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) is reportedly working with the Learning Nugget, a UK technology company to launch a 10-inch tablet to transform teaching and learning in Ghana and West Africa. According to GTUC’s President, Dr Osei Darkwa, the tablet called ‘GTUC Campus Companion’ (GCC) features a virtual learning management system, a cloud-based multimedia content management application, and solutions from Safari Books online and Google applications to provide a comprehensive portfolio of learning sources. The GCC would enable lecturers to deliver online courses and provide pre-learning, in-learning and post-learning content from preparation through to learning reinforcement. The tablet is expected to cost between $300-$400, and would be commercially available in Ghana and other West African countries in 2013. It is still uncertain what the detailed specs of the device would be.
