The service lets MTN subscribers to get job alerts via SMS on their mobile phones once latest jobs are posted on Jobberman. To get subscribed to the job alerts, you would need to dial *700# from your MTN line and type the number 6 for ‘Job Alerts’ from the MTN Play menu and click SEND.
You would need to choose from different categories of jobs such as Fresh Graduate Jobs, IT Jobs and Sales and Marketing Jobs that you wish to receive alerts from and click SEND. The Jobberman Alerts from MTN is a subscription-based service at N50/week.
For the past year, Jobberman has been experimenting on a job alerts service with a premium email alerts service launched last year that is believed to be counter-intuitive and self-destructive.
But Jobberman have had to rethink its job alerts strategy to offer this mobile subscription job alerts service in collaboration with a telco, an idea which Loy hinted about last February.
Loy argued that “if it were a mobile subscription service, users would be reasonably expected to pay for such job alerts (as lows as N100 per month) to be delivered to their mobile phones with a split in revenues with telcos.”
However, at N50 per week, it appears that the pricing for the Jobberman Alerts from MTN may be steep for most job seekers. Considering that this is a value-added service, we feel that such job alerts shouldn’t cost subscribers more than N100 per month.
What are your thoughts? Would you use the service?
