A new location-based coupon mobile app called Bokupon has launched on Android, Blackberry, iPhone devices to help you instantly get shopping items via mobile coupons and discount vouchers from merchants.
The app allows users to get discounts at their favourite retailers in fashion, electronics, groceries, restaurants and bars, cinemas, and more while it adds new categories.
I find Bokupon quite useful as it eliminates the need for consumers to carry promo flyers around or print out emails with promo codes. Instead, consumers would be notified of all of the deals nearest to their location right on their mobile devices.
When a consumer sees a deal he/she likes, they enter the shop, pick up the item and simply show the barcode and digital mobile coupon/discount on their device at checkout to redeem the discount on their purchase.
The service is currently available in Lagos only and has just a handful of deals including an offer of a N500 voucher for every N7500 spent at The Hub Media Stores at the Palms Shopping Mall in Lekki.
Bokupon founder, Lukeman Cole tells me that they are very excited about launching the service and are working on signing up more merchants this week before its official launch on February 16.
He adds that Bokupon doesn’t only provide the consumer with amazing savings and discounts, it also provides merchants the ability to monitor performance on a daily, up to the minute basis using the merchant analytics.
While traditional forms of pushing promotions to consumers such as texting, newspaper ads, flyers, insertions, etc may still exist, Bokupon tends to be innovative and smarter as its offers can be updated instantly and targeted per region or particular store location.
If you’re an avid reader of Techloy, you would know that I’ve been a huge advocate of geo-location based apps, especially ones that are product or deals-related, so I think Bokupon is offering a unique and useful service that would complement other available mobile shopping tools.
