Ghana’s President Launches $10 Billion “Hope City” IT Hub Project

Ghana’s President John Mahama has launched a project to build a $10 billion IT hub near the country’s capital, Accra, within three years, according to the BBC. Citing an investor, the BBC reports that the hub will have Africa’s tallest building, at a height of 270m (885ft) and will be built on empty land employing about 50,000 people and housing 25,000 people. In January, Kenya unveiled its own plan to build an “Africa’s Silicon Savannah”, located about 60 km (37 miles) from the capital, Nairobi, within 20 years at a cost of about $15 billion.
