EXCLUSIVE: PriceCheck App Shortlisted For Blackberry App Of The Year Award

Blackberry users around the world have selected PriceCheck’s Blackberry 10 app as one of the apps that demonstrate the most innovative use of the BlackBerry technology in this year’s Blackberry Achievement Awards.

The app, which was built using HTML5 and JavaScript source code and wrapped with Cascades and some feature plug-ins, takes shopping to a whole new level on a BlackBerry 10 smartphone, providing shoppers access to pricing for more than 30 million products on sale through the Internet and online stores in Africa.

While the price comparison service has invested a lot of money and time into developing apps on all platforms including Blackberry, Nokia, iOS and Android, being short listed as one of the three finalists for the Blackberry App of the year is no small feat.

The PriceCheck Blackberry 10 app was short listed alongside the Hoyts Cinema app and the Cooklet app for the Blackberry App of the Year award. So if you think it deserves to win the award, why not vote here now. The deadline for voting is Monday, April 15 at 5:00 PM ET (10:00 PM GMT +1) and this year’s winners will be announced at BlackBerry Live between May 14-16.

The MIH Internet-backed company which is arguably Africa’s largest price comparison site was launched in 2006 and 2012 in South Africa and Nigeria respectively with a broad range of categories offering books, mobile phones, electronics from leading e-commerce sites.

This news comes as the price comparison app aims to become the prevailing mobile shopping destination in Africa.
