iROKING Re-Launches Its Android App, Features Music Video Downloads, Social Sharing & More
After what seemed like a hasty launch of a flurry of mobile apps on Android, iOS, Symbian and Windows Phone devices last year which were mostly buggy, and as iROKO Partners co-founder, Jason Njoku described them, ‘shitty’, the company decided to re-focus on its mobile strategy.
According to the leading digital music streaming company, its new Android app has been “designed to make access to the biggest Nigerian music artists available to all Android users as easy as possible.”
Recall that when the initial app launched back in April 2012, it was heavy and buggy, although it had an awesome interface. Also, it did not allow for music downloads, but users could stream music via their devices.
With this new iteration, iROKING’s Android app allows users to download latest music releases including music videos right on their Android devices, share music tracks and music videos with friends via email, Facebook and Twitter as well as listen to your iROKING play-listed tracks offline, even while on the go.
The new Android app is lighter (1.4MB) than the older version (1.7MB) and requires Android OS 2.3 or later to function properly. We’ll be testing it using our Samsung Galaxy series and the TECNO Phantom A, so do check back for our review of the app.
The music platform boasts has over 40,000 songs from over 2,000 of West Africa’s biggest recording artists, including international superstars such as Bez, 2Face and 2Shotz.
