Nominations For The 2013 Nigerian Blog Awards Gets Underway
The nominations for the 2013 Nigerian Blog Awards started on Monday as Nigerian bloggers and their fans from all over the world do what they can to make the top 5 most nominated blogs in each category.
With about 30 categories from beauty to travel blogs including the top award, Nigerian Blog of the Year, this year’s Awards with over 3,000 nomination forms received as of Wednesday promises to exceed expectations.
Already, the organisers of the Awards unveiled a new user-friendly website that has a more organized system of listing blogs based on categories which upon listing your blog gets added within 48 hours.
“Since we relaunched on September 3…we’ve had 25,537 pageviews and 6048 unique visitors”, according to Jummy, the award’s lead organizer.
Also, the awards brand started accepting sponsors this year for the first time which would enable it reward bloggers who win awards with prizes and to prepare for next year’s awards event. So far, leading brands such as HelloFood, WhoGoHost and MoboFree are supporting the awards brand with more sponsors expected to be announced in the weeks to come, according to the organizers.
An exclusively online awards ceremony since its inception, the Nigerian Blog Awards, established in 2010 to recognize excellence in blogging by Nigerians and by non-Nigerians who blog about Nigeria, plans to host a live awards show starting in 2014.
Last year, Techloy won the Best Technology Blog award in Nigeria.
