South African students win medals at global technology competitions

Two South African students have won medals at the just concluded Certiport-hosted Adobe Certified Associate World Championship and Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship in Dallas, Texas, US.

Cape Town-based Elkanah House High School student, Samantha Knupp beat 600,000 participants to place third in the Word 2010 category in the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship, thereby pocketing a scholarship prize of US$1,000.

In the Adobe Certified Associate World Championship, 19-years old Tiffany Onderstall, a student of Inscape Education Group placed second, beating 88,000 participants, thereby pocketing a scholarship prize of US$2,500 with a medal and certificate.

The students were sponsored to both competitions by NetLearn, an e-learning institute and supplier of all Certiport products in South Africa.

Both competitions are global events held on a yearly basis, attracting hundreds of thousands of school kids from around the globe.

The Adobe Certified Associate World Championship identifies and honours the next generation of design professionals proficient in the use of Adobe Photoshop while the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship test students’ skills on Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
