Moroccan startup, Go Mobile Wins Africa Startup Cup

Go Mobile, a Moroccan startup which uses existing technologies to create innovative products, has won the inaugural Africa Startup Cup, an event created to recognize the achievement of outstanding entrepreneurs who have grown dynamic businesses during their local StartUp Cup.

The event brought together winners from Algeria, Ghana, Uganda, Morocco, Sudan, and other African countries to pitch their business models to an international panel of judges.

After the pitch and deliberations, the judges selected Go Mobile as the winner of the event. Through its products – OSIX and Ziggi – the startup allows unconnected communities to enjoy the benefits of new technologies.

Placing second was Airsave, a Ugandan FinTech company while Kawa Moka, a Ghanaian social enterprise local coffee shop dedicated to high quality coffee and cocoa products, came third.

All the three startups will go on to compete in the World StartUp Cup, which will take place in Washington DC, for investment, mentoring and coaching packages.

The event took place at iSpace, a unique environment where technology startups can start up faster in Ghana on April 29, 2016.

The event was organized by U.S Department of State Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs in partnership with Rackspace, Microsoft 4Afrika, .co Internet, RiseUp Egypt, AWS, and IBM.
