14 Startups Selected to Pitch at Seedstars Alexandria


Following call for applications, 14 startups have been selected to pitch at Seedstars Alexandria, an international startup competition investing in top entrepreneurs from emerging markets.

The selected startups are Bassita, a clickfunding platform; search engine for jobs, Cantalop; Easy Pan, a food recipes platform; financial management solutions provider, ennota; Escape, a virtual reality advertising platform, and online outsourcing platform, Hommect.

Others are online self-publishing platform, Kotobna; Shezlong, an online mental health practice; TechB3, an Arabic tech news and tech education platform (C-Net in Arabic), and Wassel, the CrunchBase of the Middle East.

Completing the list are Insanyah, a social platform connecting people to charitable organizations; Tutorama, a curated marketplace of top quality tutors (the Airbnb of tutoring); online platform for skilled individuals, Tyro, and VoxEra, a small device that lets travellers avoid roaming fees.

All 14 startups will pitch in front of a panel of judges who will select a winner. The winning startup will go on to compete with other startups from across the world for over US$1 million in investment.

The event will take place on May 7, 2016 during the Techne Summit which is set to hold at the monumental Bibliotheca Alexandria on May 7 – 8.
