Facebook-owned online mobile photo-sharing, video-sharing and social networking service, Instagram now has a look which reflects its growing community.
The new look is an updated icon, which was inspired by the previous app icon, and an app design.
The new icon represents a simpler camera, and the rainbow lives on in gradient form.
Also, icons for its other creative apps: Layout, Boomerang and Hyperlapse have been updated.
The Instagram app has been improved upon too. It now looks different on the inside as well.
The simpler design puts more focus on users’ photos and videos without changing how they navigate the app.
“The evolution of the community has been inspiring, and we hope that we’ve captured some of the life, creativity, and optimism people bring to Instagram every day. Our hope is that people will see this app icon as a new creative spark — something to have fun with and make their own. We’re excited for where this will take us,” said Ian Silber, Head of Design at Instagram.
Launched about five years ago, the Instagram community has evolved from a place to share filtered photos to a global community of interests sharing more than 80 million photos and videos every day.
