BBOXX, a venture backed company developing solutions to provide affordable, clean energy to off-grid communities in Africa, has announced it has sold 70,000 systems and installed over 2MW of solar panels since it launched.
This achievement is major milestone for the startup as it journeys to electrify 4 million households by 2020 through its wholly owned retail network and its partners around the world.
Since launching its retail business in East Africa in 2014, the provision of affordable monthly payment plans to clients, starting as low as $6/month, has accelerated the number of solar home systems sold, with over 300kW installed in 2016 alone.
