Twitter for Android gets a new refreshing look

Twitter has revamped its Android application with a new look, according to Maryann Vellanikaran, Engineering Manager, Twitter for Android, in a blog post.

The Twitter for Android app which was initially available to only beta users has now rolled out globally to all users with some new features which better aligns with the Android Lollipop user interface.

The new features are:

  • Tab bar at the top of the screen with swipe functionality so you can quickly move between your Home timeline, Notifications, Direct Messages, and more.
  • Navigation menu that slides out from the side for access to your profile, Highlights, lists, the Connect tab, and settings.
  • New floating action button so you can always easily send a Tweet.

Twitter in the past few months has added the ability to poll your community, react quickly and cleverly with GIFs, and share and enjoy Periscope broadcasts in Tweets.
