Just days after integrating SMS into its messaging app, Facebook has rolled out a new look for Messenger with a complete redesign.
The redesign adds a Home Tab that allows you to see which of your friends are online, upcoming birthdays and the Favorites section which will highlight those you message the most. Facebook says it is meant to act as a shortcut to starting new conversations with those friends.
On the lower navigation bar, you’ll also see tabs like calls, contacts, groups, and your own personal profile. Previously, when you open the app, the bar sits at the top, and you have a view of all the latest conversations you’ve had with your friends. The top bar has now been replaced with a search bar, which replicates Facebook’s mobile search experience.
“With these updates, we’re aiming to make Messenger simpler to use by presenting more relevant information. We look forward to building even more ways to make using Messenger better in the future,” according to Facebook in a statement.
