WhatsApp should really be called the record breaking (and setting) instant messaging app because it has been doing just that since it launched 6 years ago.
One of such record setting feat was clocking over one billion users earlier in the year, which made it the most popular instant messaging app in the world.
Today, this feature has set a record. It is now being used to make 100 million voice calls every day on the app – that’s over 1,100 calls a second!
WhatsApp Calling uses a phone’s Internet connection rather than airtime to make calls, and this explains why the feature has been hugely popular.
This milestone wouldn’t be last we’ll be hearing as the WhatsApp team is committed to making the app and its myriad of features even better.
“We’re humbled that so many people have found this feature useful, and we’re committed to making it even better in the months to come,” WhatsApp stated on its blog.
