Seedstars World, the global seed-stage startup competition for emerging markets and fast-growing startup scenes, is accepting applications for the Mozambican leg of the competition.
From the applications received, about 12 startups will be selected to pitch to a panel of judges for a chance to emerge winner.
The winner will fly the country’s flag at the global finals of the competition in Switzerland where it will compete with other startups from across the world for equity investment.
“After kicking off last year’s Africa tour in Mozambique and finding a young but vibrant ecosystem, we can’t wait to come back and see the massive growth and development that has taken place in the country’s startup ecosystem since last year,” said Claudia Makadristo, Seedstars World Associate for Africa.
Startups that are less than 2 years old, have raised less than US$500,000 in funding and have built a minimum viable product, ideally with existing traction, should apply for the contest by July 8, 2016.
The competition will take place on July 15, 2016 at Standard Bank in Maputo.
Standard Bank, UX Information Technologies, Swiss embassy, the US embassy and the American Cultural Center are supporters of the event.
