Transforming Education in Cocoa Communities (TRECC), an initiative to transform education for communities in rural areas of Ivory Coast, has announced it will offer the most promising EduTech startup at the Seedstars World finals US$50,000.
Known as the Transforming Education Prize, it was established to ensure that educational services and innovation are easily accessed by rural and low-income communities.
At the Seedstars World finals taking place next year in Switzerland, several startups from across the world – about 20 will come from Africa – will gather to compete for equity investment.
The prize will be awarded the most promising startup with solutions to improve education in primary schools in low resource environments.
TRECC hopes that the prize will harness the powers of technology and entrepreneurship to drive meaningful change in education, not only in Ivory Coast but across the whole world.
An initiative of The Jacobs Foundation, TRECC aims to reach over 200,000 children and youth directly by 2022. Its intended long-term impact is to create an ecosystem that’ll transform education in cocoa-growing communities in Ivory Coast.
