Andela appoints Wambui Kinya as Chief Strategy Officer

Andela, a New York based talent accelerator co-founded by Nigeria’s Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, has announced the appointment of Wambui Kinya as its Chief Strategy Officer.

Wambui’s role is to spearhead Andela’s partnership strategy in Africa and ramp up its efforts to recruit technical leadership across the continent.

This wouldn’t overwhelm her one bit as she isn’t new to such challenging and demanding positions.

Prior to her new appointment, she has worked in North America, Europe and Africa for companies including Praekelt Consulting, IBM Global Business Services and Digitas (Publicis Groupe).

She was formerly Group Managing Director, Pan Africa and South America, for global technology consulting firm ThoughtWorks, where she was responsible for the strategic evolution of the business.

With over eighteen years’ experience in digital, mobile marketing and technology consulting, Wambui is bringing immense experience to Andela.

Her appointment is also a testament to the fact that Andela is taking its goal of advancing and promoting women in tech – her appointment represents a huge step in that regard.

Although Wambui will be based out of Andela’s Nairobi headquarters, she’ll be shuttling to Andela Lagos and Andela NYC frequently.

Wambui’s appointment comes just a month after the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, a US$45 billion philanthropic company started by Mark Zuckerberg and wife Priscilla Chan, invested in Andela.
