GDG Lagos is organizing a Progressive Web Apps event on August 20 in Lagos

Progressive Web Apps (PWA) seem to be the way to go, and no one wants to be left out.

First, it was Co-Creation Hub (CcHUB) announcing a PWA Summit in 3 African cities. Then iDea Nigeria followed suit. GDG Lagos has also announced it is organizing its own PWA event on August 20, 2016.

For the uninitiated, Progressive Web Apps are experiences that combine the best of the web and the best of apps.

These apps load quickly, even on flaky networks, can re-engage with users by sending web push notifications, have an icon on the home screen and load as top-level, full screen experiences.

At the event, participants will learn about the future of the web with Progressive Web Apps, why they are important and how to build and deploy them effectively.

On hand to speak will be Andreas Bovens (Opera for Android Product Manager & Dev Relations lead at Opera Software) and Top Google Developer Experts – Ire Aderinokun, Kenneth Christiansen, Juarez Filho, Eugene Mutai & Femi Taiwo.

The event will take place at the Co-Creation Hub in Yaba, Lagos on the aforementioned date from 1 PM prompt till mama calls.

If you’re interested in attending (everyone is invited by the way), you can click HERE to register.

This event is actually the second GDG Lagos will be organizing. The first one took place on August 18 at the VCP Hotel in Lagos.

I guess GDG Lagos is simply just saying that, unlike those carbonated beverages we down every now and then, too much of PWA isn’t a bad thing!!!
