These are the three startups vying to represent Nigeria at Slush GIA 2016

On August 27, a local pitchathon took place at Ventures Park, where Ventures Platform is located, in Abuja to search the Nigerian startups that’ll represent the country at the 2016 Slush Global Impact Accelerator (GIA).

Launched last year, GIA supports startups that are looking to solve some of the most pressing global challenges and contributing to the discussion on impact investing.

14 startups were present at the event and they pitched to a panel of judges which included Kola Aina, Jennifer Chizua and Osita Orji Nwoye for a chance to make it to the final round in the selection process.

10 startups were selected as finalists before it was pruned down to just three. The three finalists are described below.

  • Cash Madam, an app to help small & growing business owners use tech to automate businesses, increase profit & grow.
  • Mobile Forms, an app that helps businesses go paperless – turns their paperworks into digital forms (or mobile forms).
  • PayConnect, an online lending platform for short term loans to individuals without taking collateral.

The three startups will be contacted by the Selection Committee for an interview. The Selection Committee will select the startup(s) that’ll represent Nigeria at the global event.

The Slush Global Impact Accelerator will take place from November 22 – December 2, 2016 in Helsinki, Finland.

Slush Global Impact Accelerator (GIA) is a program created in collaboration with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland and multiple partners globally.
