Leading African energy conglomerate, Sahara Group has announced it will support the Aso Villa Demo Day finalists in cash and kind in a bid to help them grow their startups.
One way it plans to support the finalists is through its entrepreneurship platform known as “Extrapreneurship”, an integrated development and management programme.
The programme is designed to grow and sustain entrepreneurial ventures by linking them with strategic partnerships and networks.
In addition, the top three winners – Tracology, RecyclePoints and Shuttlers – will receive financial support from Sahara Group.
“Sahara is indeed proud to be associated with the project which will inspire, challenge and empower young Nigerians to be part of the solutions to socio-economic challenges in their immediate environment,” said Mr. Tonye Cole, Sahara Group’s Executive Director.
He added, “Through Sahara Foundation’s Academic Hub, business development experts and professionals from other disciplines will provide mentorship to the top 30 innovators.”
An initiative of the Presidency, Aso Villa Demo Day is aimed at celebrating some of the best Nigerians in technology innovation and creativity.
The event was an avenue to promote entrepreneurship, innovation, job creation and economic growth through the use of new and emerging technologies.
The finals, which held on September 2, 2016 at the State House Conference Center, Abuja, was attended by VP, Yemi Osinbajo, Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg, and an enthusiastic audience of investors, incubators, public and private sector decision makers.
“I am really blown away by the talent of the entrepreneurs and young developers in this country, particularly the focus to build something that’s going to make a difference and bring change,” Zuckerberg said.
