TEDGlobal is holding in Africa next year

Africa will host TEDGlobal next year, ten years after the event first held on the continent – TEDGlobal 2007 was tagged “Africa: The Next Chapter” and was a huge success.

Next year’s event is themed “Builders. Truth-tellers. Catalysts.” and will bring together over 800 participants, an undisclosed number of corporate partners, and 40 – 50 speakers.

“At the end of TEDGlobal 2007, we talked about ‘Planting Seeds.’ Ten years later, we will be mapping and imagining new directions. TEDGlobal 2017 will showcase the brave and the bold, the makers and creators, pioneers and builders, the advocates and activists,” said Emeka Okafor, co-curator of the event.

TEDGlobal 2017 will take place in Arusha, Tanzania (as with the 2007 edition) from August 27 – 30, 2017. It will feature a series of workshops, and there’ll be time for entertainment.

Pre- and post-conference events are also being planned, including tours of local tech clusters and enterprises, as well as excursions in the legendary Northern Circuit, a collection of parks and lands that encircle Arusha.

If you’re looking to attend the event, you can register. Also, applications for TEDGlobal 2017 Fellow are now open.

First started in 2005, TEDGlobal is an annual conference that celebrates human ingenuity by exploring ideas, innovation and creativity from all around the world.

TEDGlobal is a sister conference to TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design), a global set of conferences with the slogan “Ideas Worth Spreading”
