7 African startups selected for Y Combinator accelerator S22 batch

Seven African startups have been selected to participate in the Silicon Valley Y Combinator accelerator programme among a total of 219 startups already confirmed from different regions.  

  • The confirmed  African startups are Nigeria's fintech startup Pivo, Chowdeck, a Nigerian food delivery platform, Kenyan payments platform, Patika, and Ghanaian auto parts distribution service, Garage Mobility. Others are Nigerian startups, including Anchor, a banking-as-a-service (BaaS) platform, Bridgecard, a card-issuing fintech startup, and FoodCourt, a food delivery service startup.
  • Each startup will receive up to $500,000 as part of the accelerator deal, alongside a three-month of shaping and refining of participants' pitches to be investment-worthy.
  • 24 African startups participated in the W22 batch, Y Combinator's previous edition.
  • African startups such as Flutterwave, Paystack, Kobo360, Cowrywise, MarketForce, Kudi, WorkPay, and CredPal among others have participated in the renowned accelerator programme.
