AI translation makes real-time chats interesting for gamers

If you've been wondering how AI is going to be used in gaming, especially for multiplayer games, here's one way – translation.

Thanks to Metaverse platform Roblox's new AI translation tool, millions of users around the world can now communicate regardless of a player's native language. According to the company, the translation service will work in real-time chat and convert a message in one language to the user's native language instantly. It makes sense since people are likely to be chatting with others who don’t speak the same language as them when playing games.

With over 70 million users connecting every day with some 2.4 billion messages exchanged between 180 countries every day, Roblox thinks that the new AI translation tool is a great way to improve connections and communication.

Although it is still early days, it would be interesting to see AI tools incorporate live voice translation for in-game chat in the future.
