Amazon India has launched Amazon Air, making it the first e-commerce company in the country to have a dedicated air cargo network.
This would also be the first launch of the Amazon Air cargo service outside of the US and Europe.
Amazon Air's cargo network will utilise the cargo capacity of two Boeing 737-800 aircraft operated by Quikjet Cargo Airlines. Each Amazon Air aircraft will ship thousands of packages every day and fly across Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai.
Amazon Air says the cargo service will help ship goods faster from its fulfilment centres to last-mile deliveries, ensuring that growing its customer base is provided with great selections, low prices, and faster deliveries.
This announcement reaffirms Amazon’s commitment to invest in India’s logistical infrastructure, create more jobs in the local economy, and introduce newer capabilities to power our delivery network.
