Amazon Prime Video to add Apple TV+ to its streaming platform
Movie lovers will soon have the best of both worlds, as Amazon is reportedly adding Apple TV+ to its video streaming bundle.
This addition is set to launch later this month, allowing Amazon Prime users to access Apple TV+ as an add-on feature. With this partnership, Apple aims to reach Amazon's over 200 million subscribers worldwide.
To access Apple TV+ on Prime Video, users will pay an additional fee of $9.99, from which Amazon is expected to take a cut. Although this fee is not lower than a direct subscription to Apple TV+, Amazon aims to create a one-stop shop for all your movie and streaming needs.
Apple TV+ will be an addition to the over 100 video streaming platforms users can access through Prime Video, giving even more streaming options to its estimated 200 million subscribers. A figure just shy of Netflix's 269.6 million subscribers.
With additional integrations and enhancements to its platform, Amazon Prime Video could continue to expand and possibly surpass Netflix's dominance in the industry. As streaming continues to reshape television, the appeal of having access to all your viewing options in one place is clear. However, it remains uncertain whether there are additional benefits for users beyond convenience.
Other streaming platforms already offer similar bundles; for example, Hulu has partnered with Disney and ESPN to provide a package that covers all three services at a price lower than individual subscriptions, although it may include some advertisements. This type of deal benefits users in terms of cost.
In the meantime, users can continue to enjoy popular shows from Apple TV+, such as Ted Lasso and Severance, through Amazon.
