Apple teases week of Mac announcements amid speculation of M4 MacBook Pros

For the past few years, Apple has hosted an October event to showcase its latest MacBooks and iPads. Last October’s “Scary Fast” event, a brief 30-minute showcase, revealed Apple’s M3 chip family along with new MacBook upgrades.

This year, a similar event seemed likely. Techloy had reported that MacBook Pros featuring the new M4 chip, as well as updates to the Mac Mini and iPad Mini, could be expected later this month.

In a surprising move, however, Apple released the iPad Mini 7 quietly through a blog post, raising questions about whether an October event would happen at all this year.

But yesterday, Apple’s SVP Greg Joswiak hinted on X (formerly Twitter) about an upcoming “week of announcements” starting Monday, October 28. The post, cryptically phrased “Mac your calendars,” could imply that new Mac hardware will be unveiled without a formal launch event.

While Apple hasn’t confirmed the exact lineup, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and other industry insiders predict we could see a range of M4-equipped Macs, including the updated 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, a refreshed iMac, and possibly even a redesigned Mac Mini.

This staggered release format suggests Apple may be trying a new approach, opting to sustain interest over the course of the week rather than concentrating it on a single presentation.

Next week is expected to bring more than just hardware news. Apple is also expected to roll out software updates across its devices, enabling Apple Intelligence features on iPhones, iPads, and Macs.
