The month-long protests which have left hundreds of people dead began after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government proposed a controversial quota system that aims to provide reservations in government jobs to individuals whose family members participated in Bangladesh’s liberation movement.
Hasina resigned and fled to India on Monday, per multiple news reports.
