There is good news for the PC industry in India. After a period of market uncertainty, the traditional PC market (desktops, notebooks, and workstations) showed a modest but positive growth of 2.6% year-over-year in Q1 2024, reaching 3.07 million units shipped according to the latest data from the International Data Corporation (IDC).
This growth is particularly interesting because it's driven by a shift in user preferences. While desktops and workstations saw a healthy increase of 10.1% and 2.7% YoY respectively, notebook shipments dipped slightly by 1.7% YoY. Even within the notebook segment, high-performance machines were particularly popular. The premium notebook category (priced above $1,000) defied the overall decline, witnessing a robust 21% YoY growth.
