The Middle Eastern smartphone market experienced a 20% year-on-year growth in Q2 2024, with shipments reaching 11.5 million units, according to Canalys.

This growth was driven by economic diversification, government support, and consumer demand as the region continues to move beyond its reliance on oil.

Saudi Arabia’s smartphone market grew by 13%, supported by retail expansion and the influx of pilgrims during Hajj. The UAE saw 19% growth, boosted by tourism and key infrastructure investments. Iraq led with 22% growth despite economic challenges, while Qatar and Kuwait posted gains of 14% and 17%, respectively.

In terms of brand performance, Samsung retained its lead with a 28% market share, despite a 5% drop in shipments. Despite this decline, the brand’s Galaxy A series and premium Galaxy S24 helped maintain its strong presence.
