  • Singapore’s PC market dropped 7.7% YoY in Q2 '24, with 216,000 units shipped.
  • Desktops grew by 3.5% YoY, while notebooks and workstations declined.
  • Lenovo remained the market leader with 25.2% share, showing slight growth.

As the overall market shrinks, desktops surprisingly shine in Singapore’s PC landscape for Q2 2024, with notebooks and workstations taking a hit.

Singapore’s traditional PC market, comprising desktops, notebooks, and workstations, recorded 216,000 units in Q2 2024, marking a 7.7% year-over-year (YoY) decline, according to the latest data from IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Personal Computing Device Tracker.

But not all devices fared equally. While both notebooks and workstations posted declines of 0.5% and 7.8% YoY respectively, desktop PCs bucked the trend, growing 3.5% YoY.

This growth comes as the consumer segment shrank by 4.7% YoY, driven by shifting post-pandemic spending habits and tighter disposable incomes. On the commercial side, the story was bleaker.

A significant 10.2% drop YoY was driven by delays in government projects and subdued demand from sectors like education, which plummeted 28.3%, and government, down 25.7%. This marked nine straight quarters of YoY decline in the segment.
