China overtakes the US as the biggest producer of AI talent
China has now surpassed the United States to become the leading producer of AI talent globally.
China has just overtaken the United States to become the largest producer of AI talent, according to reports from a new study, amidst the rising tension between both countries in the global tech market.
The study, which was conducted by MacroPolo, revealed that China now generates almost half (50%) of the world's leading AI researchers, in contrast to the US, which produces only about 18%. This represents a major leap for China, as just three years ago, it produced about one-third of the world's top talent while the US remained the same.
Also, the US benefitted from China's brain drain in the past, as many of the country's top minds were trooping to the US for research. With many of them now opting to stay in China, it may give China an advantage over the US in the coming years as they jostle for supremacy in the AI market.
