China surpasses the U.S. to become the largest iPhone market

Apple's smartphone sales performance in various global markets reveals a tale of contrasting fortunes.

While lacklustre demand in North America, Western Europe, and Japan contributed to the company's mixed overall performance, the iPhone posted impressive results, particularly in China and emerging markets like India, where its popularity continues to soar.

Notably, China achieved a historic milestone by surpassing the United States as the largest market for iPhones, in the second quarter of 2023. This marks the first time such a shift has occurred, according to data analyzed by the global market research firm TechInsights.
