eBay Introduces an AI-Powered Shopping Feature to its iOS App
The feature will provide outfit inspirations to fashion enthusiasts that match their personal style.
eBay has introduced an AI-powered "shop the look" feature in its iOS mobile app that would appeal to fashion lovers on the platform by introducing fashion items and suggesting fashion ideas based on their shopping history.
This move comes after Google introduced a new AI shopping feature last summer that would allow consumers to virtually try on clothes. Other companies, like Amazon, have also introduced an AI shopping feature to help customers find clothes that fit when shopping online.
While Google and Amazon's shopping features focus on helping customers find the right fit or size, eBay’s new feature is more focused on fashion inspiration, meaning finding the right style, which can be much harder to do considering that personal style is subjective.
eBay currently has an average of 1.7 million active iOS users and 1.6 million Android users per day, according to data from SignHouse. It also had 129 million active users in 2023, which shows that a good number of fashion enthusiasts will take advantage of its new feature to get outfit inspirations that match their personal style.
According to the e-commerce giant, the "shop the look" feature will appear to any eBay shopper who has viewed at least 10 fashion items over the past 180 days. It will be displayed both on the eBay homepage and the fashion landing page. The feature will be made available first to iOS users in the U.S. and the U.K., with support for Android coming later this year.
