Ethiopian fintech Chapa launches payment gateway for merchants

Chapa, an Ethiopia-based fintech has launched a payment gateway that allows businesses to receive and send money to any destinations worldwide.

• The fintech startup allows businesses to create accounts to send and receive payments globally. Its API allows businesses to integrate payment options into their digital platforms.
• Chapa's one in all solution enables merchants, schools, fintechs, developers, transports, and betting among others set up payment modes whether through digital banking, payment apps, or card products.
• It offers multiple payment options for local and international merchants. According to the CEO and co-founder of Chapa, Nael Hailemariam, Chapa is empowering Ethiopian entrepreneurs and businesses to thrive in the global economy.
• The CEO claims the launch of the payment gateway marks the introduction of Chapa to the financial sector of Ethiopia and the fintech will expand its fingerprint on the development of the digital ecosystem by launching in East Africa in phase two, and across Africa in phase three.
