Since pioneering the foldable segment commercially, major brands like Google, Microsoft, Oppo, Motorola, and Huawei have hopped on the train launching their own version of a foldable device, signalling a growing preference for the versatile tablet-like form factor.
Samsung has enjoyed a dominant market share of foldable smartphones, accounting for almost 80% of the market in 2022, according to Counterpoint – that's over 10 million foldable smartphones shipped by the South Korean tech giant in 2022.
As the Techloy chart below shows, global shipments foldable smartphones are expected to reach 18.6 million by 2023 and are projected to exceed 100 million units by 2027.
