Writing emails is one of those things that should be quick but never really is. You start typing, second-guess the tone, rewrite the whole thing, and then wonder if it’s too long or too short. It’s a process.

But if you’ve been using Help Me Write in Gmail, you already know how much easier it makes things—generating full drafts, refining tone, and shortening or expanding messages based on what you need.

Now, it’s getting even better.

Starting March 24, 2025, Gmail's Help Me Write feature is expanding its language support to Italian, French, and German, joining the existing lineup of English, Spanish, and Portuguese. So, whether you’re firing off a formal email in French or keeping it casual in Italian, Gmail’s AI tool will now help smooth things out.

The feature is available on both web and mobile, but it’s only available to paying subscribers. Out of Gmail's over 1.8 billion active users globally according to Forbes, Help Me Write is limited to subscribers across various Google Workspace tiers, including Business Starter, Standard, and Plus, as well as Enterprise Starter, Standard, and Plus.

Google Gemini AI update adds new option for polishing email
The latest update introduces additional options for refining and polishing email drafts.

If you’re subscribed to Google One AI Premium or using the Gemini Education add-ons, you’re in, too. Even users who previously bought Gemini Business or Gemini Enterprise (before they were discontinued in January 2025) will still have access.

For those unfamiliar, Help Me Write doesn’t just spit out generic text. It can tweak your wording to sound more formal, add more detail to a brief message, or trim down a long-winded email. It even considers previous messages in an email thread to craft responses that actually make sense in context. Basically, it takes the overthinking out of email writing.

To use it, you’ll need smart features and personalization turned on in your Gmail settings, which Workspace admins can manage in the Google Admin console.

With Google expanding this tool to more languages, it’s clear that it is making a serious push to make AI-powered writing more useful for a global audience. If you haven’t given it a shot yet, now might be the time.
