Gmail now has a new Gemini AI tool to summarize email threads and draft new emails
But only paid Gemini users can have access to the new features.
Have you ever needed to send a quick email without worrying about drafting one yourself or perhaps you need to know the content of an email thread without going through it yourself?
If you use Gmail, a new feature is rolling out for paid Gemini users that can summarize email threads and draft new emails. Built with Google Gemini 1.5 Pro, the feature has proactive prompts, although you could still ask your questions.
To use the feature, you must also be a Google Workspace customer with a Gemini Business or Enterprise add-on, a Gemini Education or Education Premium add-on, or a Google One AI Premium subscriber to have access to them.
In addition, Gmail for Android and iOS will also have the Gemini-powered summarize capability, and it will only be available to paid customers.
The "Summarize this email" button will appear underneath the subject line in Gmail, and it will only be available in email threads that have more than two responses, with a Gemini sheet sliding up from the bottom of your screen to summarize the email.
Finally, Google has promised that the new features, both for web and mobile devices, will be fully available to the public in the coming weeks as it sets its eyes on the launch of Gmail Q&A and Contextual Smart Reply features next month.
