Google Contacts to streamline contact creation with redesign update
It should make adding new contacts a faster and more intuitive process.
If you frequently add contacts to your phone, Google is rolling out an update to the Contacts app that promises a significantly smoother experience.
The update focuses on redesigning the "create contact" page to prioritize the most frequently used information and make adding new contacts a breeze.
Instead of scrolling through a long list of fields you might never use, the redesigned page places essential details like name, company, and phone number front and centre for easy access. Google even threw in a handy "Favorite" star icon at the top, allowing you to quickly mark important contacts.
But what if you need to add more specific information like an email, address or birthday? The update replaces the clutter of text box fields with clear, pill-shaped buttons for commonly used additional details. Google also made provisions for additional fields for details like middle name or nickname. A new "Add Fields" button reveals a hidden menu with these additional options.
Finally, the update acknowledges the importance of detailed notes. The "Notes" field is getting a significant size boost, expanding to provide more space for detailed information you might need about your contact.
Overall, this update seems like a win for anyone who uses the Contacts app. The streamlined interface should make adding new contacts a faster and more intuitive process. While the update (version 4.30) hasn't yet begun rolling out, it's expected to arrive as a Play Store update for Google Contacts in the near future.
