Google Gemini AI update adds new option for polishing email

Google's AI-powered writing assistant, Help Me Write, is getting a significant boost with the introduction of new features that streamline the email writing process.

Available on Gmail, Help Me Write offers a range of options to refine your article, including writing suggestions and rewrites. However, it appears that more updates are coming to 1.8 billion Gmail users according to Forbes, as Google makes some tweaks to the Gemini artificial intelligence writing tools.

The latest update introduces additional options for refining and polishing email drafts. The new features include the "Polish" tool, which complements existing options like "Formalize," "Elaborate," and "Shorten." These tools enable users to quickly transform rough drafts into professional, polished emails.

Users can now add these new options to their drafts to perfect their emails and save time. For example, you can input a rough draft and then use Gemini to convert it into a formal email with a single click.

On mobile devices, the Help Me Write option appears within the email body when a draft is empty and expands when tapped. If you type at least 12 words in a draft, a "Refine My Draft" shortcut will appear below the content. Users can swipe to select the option and choose to Polish, Formalize, Elaborate, or Shorten their draft.

Currently, these features are available on web browsers, Android, and iOS for Google Workspace customers with the Gemini Business and Enterprise add-ons, Gemini Education and Education Premium add-ons, and Google One AI Premium users. The feature is enabled by default and cannot be disabled by the user, with no admin control required.
