Google Now Has A Single App to Rule Them All
Google announced a its new app coming to PCs that allows you access many of its services through it.
The Made By Google '24 event featured a lot of Google's latest technological advancements in both hardware, through their Pixel 9 lineup, and software, through their AI model, Gemini. But, just weeks after the event, the tech giant has delivered again.
In a recent blog post from Google, the company announced its latest app, Google Essentials, a way to discover many of its best services.
According to Google, users are finally gaining access to the app after two years of development aimed at bringing Google Play Games to PC. With this app, users can now enjoy a range of Google's services — including Google Play Games — when setting up a new PC.
Google also claims that through your Start menu, you'll be able to access everything from Google Docs and Calendar to Google Photos and Messages. While the exact number of Google services available through the app isn't specified, their promotional poster suggests that other apps like Play Store, Sheets, and Google One might be included.
Google mentioned that the primary motivation behind creating this app was to bring Google Play Games to PC for gamers, so you can expect a wide range of games to become available on PCs as well. Thousands of mobile and native PC games from Google Play Games, including popular titles like Clash of Clans and CookieRun: Tower of Adventures, will be accessible through the app.
As a plus, everything done on any of the services through the app gets synced to all your devices connected to your Google account. This way, you'll be able to easily and quickly switch between your phone and your Desktop to keep working seamlessly. You will have the option to delete any of the services within the app or remove the Google Essentials app entirely if you choose.
According to Google, the app will initially launch exclusively on HP Windows laptops, with plans to roll it out to other laptops and desktops in the coming months.
