Google One AI Premium Gets a Productivity Boost with NotebookLM Plus

If you've ever wished for an AI that doesn't just summarize your research but actively helps you think through it, Google's NotebookLM Plus is about to become your new handbag.

NotebookLM, the foundation of this upgrade, has been around since 2023 as a research and thinking companion. It lets you upload materials, from documents, and URLs, to YouTube videos, and query those materials. You can interact with AI to summarize, ask questions, and generate new engaging content like podcast-style audio discussions from the materials.

While NotebookLM already offers powerful tools for synthesizing information, NotebookLM Plus takes it further. On the plus, you get five times more Audio Overviews, meaning you can generate more podcast-style summaries of your content. You also get the ability to create more notebooks, analyze more sources per notebook, and ask more questions. You can also customize how you share your notebooks and even track daily views.

Before this expansion, individual users needed to be part of an organization to access NotebookLM. Now, all of this is bundled into the Google One AI Premium and accessible to anyone on the premium plan. The premium plan already includes access to Gemini Advanced, AI integration in Gmail and Docs, and 2TB of cloud storage—all for $19.99 a month. And if you’re a student in the U.S. over 18, you can snag it for just $9.99/month for the first year.

Google isn’t stopping here. It is planning to roll out a mobile app soon, so you’ll be able to take your research on the go. And it is looking into expanding Audio Overview support to languages beyond English, making it even more versatile.

What sets NotebookLM Plus apart from its competitors like Notion AI, Evernote, and OneNote is its advanced AI capabilities, integration with the Google ecosystem, and robust collaboration features. While Notion AI and Everrnote are enhancing their AI and collaboration tools, NotebookLM Plus remains a standout choice due to this unique blend of features.

The best part is that even if you’re not ready to commit to the premium plan, Google is still supporting the free version of NotebookLM.

So, if you’ve been looking for a smarter way to handle your research, organize your thoughts, or even create content, NotebookLM Plus might just be what you need.
