Google Play Store lets users update or install multiple apps at once
Google hasn’t said exactly when everyone will get this update feature, but you might already have it.
Remember those times when updating your apps on the Google Play Store felt like a slow, one-by-one process? Well, Google has finally made that experience a lot smoother.
Previously, the Play Store only allowed you to download two apps at the same time—a feature introduced in April 2024. But when it came to updates, you were still stuck handling apps one by one.
Now, Google has stepped up its game by enabling the Play Store to download, install, and update up to three apps simultaneously.
For the 3.6 billion Android users globally, according to data from AppMySite, this could mean quicker setups and smoother updates, particularly when setting up a new phone or restoring from a backup.
It's worth noting that this wasn't an entirely new feature concept—Google has been testing ways to speed up app updates since 2019. However, this broader rollout marks a significant enhancement for everyday users.
This update also brings the Google Play Store closer to what Apple’s App Store has offered for years, where three simultaneous app installs have been the norm. It's part of Google’s ongoing effort to make the Play Store smarter and more user-friendly, building on recent AI-powered features like app comparisons and personalized content hubs.
Google hasn’t said exactly when everyone will get this three-app update feature, but you might already have it. If you’re curious, try updating a few apps at once and see if it’s there.
